Mount Kenya beckons to adventurous hearts!

Mount Kenya beckons to adventurous hearts!

November in Ireland? and the rain is bucketing down from a leaden sky. Why not escape to sunny east Africa instead and join the fight against heart disease at the same time? West-of-Ireland heart charity CROÍ has teamed up with widely-acclaimed Irish adventurer, Gavin Bate, to bring you an exceptional 14-day Kenya itinerary, which incorporates three days in the spectacular Rift Valley.

The team, which is limited to 20 places, will take seven days to tackle Lenana, Mount Kenya's third peak. This is the mountain's only non-technical option, which means you need neither mountaineering experience, nor any specialised equipment to participate. Access to the peak is via the Naro Moru route from the west, in time to see the run rise -- a truly memorable experience!

Having summated Lenana, the team will head for the Great Rift Valley, that 50km wide fissure stretching from Jordan to Mozambique. So well defined that it can be seen from space, the Rift Valley is renowned for its prolific wildlife. Here you'll overnight on the shores of Lake Navaisha (here's to close encounters with crocs and hippos!), climb the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot; and spend the final day of the challenge cycling through Hell's Gate National Park.

The funds raised through this project are earmarked for important cardiac rehabilitation projects. If you're looking for the experience of a lifetime, call (091) 544331 today!
