Winter Concert Series at Newton Castle

Winter Concert Series at Newton Castle

Newtown Castle

Following the highly successful series of Summer concerts which featured artists such as Luka Bloom, Mary Coughlan, Juliet Turner, John Spillane, Mick Hanly, the Café Jazz Quartet and Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, the walls of Newtown Castle will resound again to the strains of music, as it becomes the backdrop to a series of top class national and international acts performing as part of the Newtown Nights Winter series at the Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan.

The Summer concerts were magic, the candlelit coach-house is such an intimate setting ... the audience feels at one with the performer. The musicians clearly enjoy the venue and the atmosphere is relaxed yet powerful. Our Winter series will expand the range of music to include classical, jazz, contemporary and traditional music said Mary Hawkes-Greene who is organising the series. The programme up to Christmas will include Freddie White, The Rothko String Trio and Nollaig Casey along with Arty McGlynn. This will be followed by a further series in the New Year.

If you would like to attend you must contact Burren College of Art early as many have been disappointed to find that concerts were sold out a week or two in advance.
