Opening Hours

Standard opening hours is 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Lunch time is from 13:00 to 14:00 but most retail businesses remain open during lunch time.

Shops are open on Saturday 09:00 to 17:30.

Friday is late shopping day in Galway: Most shops in the city center are open from 09:00 to 21:00.

Some shops open on Sunday, but often have shorter hours.

There are some special occasions where opening hours vary: Many shops close early on Good Friday. All shops (except a few petrol stations) are closed on Christmas Day (25 Dec) and Saint Stephens Day (26 Dec). Many businesses have shorter hours during the Galway Races (the first week in August).

Galway is in the UTC/GMT time zone during the winter months and GMT + 1 hour during the summer months (daylight saving time).
