Irish sports range from what the fastest field-game in the world, hurling to the more sedate but equally enjoyable cruise along some of our plentiful rivers and lakes.

You can walk, swim, fish, enjoy adventure sports such as canoeing or paragliding in Irish lakes and rivers. On land golf fans can enjoy our numerous golf courses. Tennis courts abound and are particularly popular during the summer months. Squash, racquet-ball, and badminton facilities are to be found in most towns.

Galway people are keen spectators at field-games espeically hurling and gaelic football.

Rugby has gained increasing popularity in recent years and is known as a gentlemans game although there may be afew players with broken noses who would disagree with that.

Hockey and cricket are also increasing in popularity and for those who prefer to work out in the gym there are at least four gyms in Galway.
