Shopping

Galway offers a unique and diverse shopping experience with a wide range of shops fully equipped to cater for the needs of both visitors and locals alike.

The city caters for a very large cachement area as the regional capital of the West and the variety of goods on offer reflects the changing needs of its public.

Many of the shops are located on streets in the main shopping area in the centre of the city. These shopping areas are supplemented by a number of enclosed shopping centres, most of which are situated on the city's outskirts.

As well as a full range of mainstream shops Galway has quite a large number of specialist and tourist oriented shops, which offer unique and interesting gifts, often made locally.

Don't forget - visitors from outside the EU can claim tax back on gifts bought, which makes these items even better value.
