Eyre Square SC

The Eyre Square Shopping Centre is one of Galway's success stories. It is a success story for the urban renewal scheme under which it was born five years ago.

The centre was built on the site of an old timber yard in an effort to breath life into the city. And it was an undoubtable success. Today, with its specialist shops in fashion, food, sport, gifts, books, household goods, department stores, cafes, banks and bustling yet spacious atmosphere and its constant hosting of exhibitions and events for children and adults, Eyre Square Centre has become a centre in every sense of the word.

Social, Commercial, Shopping. SuperValu, the supermarket offers a very good range and quality of food, drink and household items. There is also a free home delivery service, where you can phone-in to order . Tel 091 567833

The North-Eastern corner of Galway's 14th century city wall is incorporated into the centre whose architecture is a skilful blend of the ancient stone and modern design.

The design has been approved by the Irish Wheelchair Association for meeting the needs of people with disabilities.

The Centre has acted as a venue for world class events such as the World Press Photo Exhibition, the European Lego Exhibition and the Festival of the sea.

There is also a lot to offer children with animated entertainment at Christmas and exhibitions such as the Meccano exhibition.

Opening hours: 9am to 6.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. On Thursdays and Fridays it opens form 9am to 9pm. Also Sunday opening during November and December.
