Stokestown International Poetry FestivalFriday 30th April-3rd MayFounded in 1999 the Strokestown International Poetry Festival has gone from strength to strength. Last year (2003) the competitions received entries from all parts of the world, in particular England, Europe and the U.S. The festival is now well established as one of the leading literary festivals in Ireland. Its origins are rooted in the songs and poetry of the area around the local mountain Sliabh Bán.
