VisualJoe SaccoJoe Sacco is possibly the only cartoonist in America held in equal regard by comic book fans and journalists. Sacco's brand of New Journalism - using the comics medium to tell his stories - has led to exhibitions throughout the world. Sacco was recently the focus of major exhibitions at the University of Buffalo Art Gallery and the University of Pittsburgh Art Gallery, the latter of which coincided with a cover feature in Speak magazine about the leading crop of New Journalists as we head into the 21st Century, citing Sacco as the leading light of the movement.

Photographed six years apart, by day in 1997 and by night in 2003, Billingham's aim was to prove that good photographs could be taken anywhere, using the most commonplace subject. These are remarkable photographs and confirm Billingham's extraordinary ability to produce ravishing images from the most ordinary material.
Venue: Aula Maxima 2 NUI Galway Rooms For Waiting InAn exhibition of conceptual work by Grace Weir, Corban Walker, Garret Phelan & Willie McKeown. This exhibition relates to the theme of waiting. While the event for which each person is waiting may change, it is the act of waiting that focuses the mind to consider the nature of time and how we form habits to structure our lives. Each artist has been allocated a room space in the Galway Arts Centre and asked to respond to this idea.
