Shop Street

Go to Powell's (Tel 562295) on Shop street for one of the best selections of Irish music records, musical instruments and sheet music.

Powells meets at the cross roads of shop street and Abbeygate street. Abbeygate Street is lined with clothing boutiques exclusive and second hand bohemia.

Eason's bookshop (Tel 562214) on shop Street is a big store stocking local and national interest books, as well as arts materials.

Parallel to shop street is Middle street, where beside the Brasserie Restaurant is the Two Lanes Gallery (Tel 565994). Artist and owner, Linda Keohane produces miniature watercolour and ink paintings, and she also uses leaves and feathers to produce equisite pieces.

Further along this small European style medieval street, is the Cornstore, a small shopping mall. At the entrance is Charlie Byrnes (Tel 561766), a bookshop with an easy atmosphere, selling second hand and the latest editions. Browsers are welcome.

Design Ireland (Tel 567716) plus next store stocks a superb range of quality Irish handcrafts ; pottery, Batik wallhangings, rugs and jewellery.
