Salthill Air Show

The Salthill Air Show is Ireland's largest Air Show. It takes place off
the promenade at Salthill on the shore of Galway Bay. It is free for the
public to attend and it has become a great family day or weekend away.
This year's lineup includes the German Navy Solo Tornado Display Team,
Czech Let-410 Turbolet transport, US Army CH47 Chinook, US Army UH-60
Blackhawk.

Galway Film Fleadh

Chaos (2002), directed by Geraldine Creed
|
Town Hall Theatre, Galway. This is the 14th Film Fleadh. Best of new Irish
films and International features, including Master classes, Film Fair and
seminars. Screenings will take place at the Town Hall Theatre and the Galway
Omniplex, with the Galway Rowing Club acting as Festival Club. New Irish
releases with the best of cutting edge international cinema, mixed with new
Irish Shorts. Unique to the film festival is the Galway Film Fair - a film
market that runs for two days offering Irish producers with projects
(finished or in development), the opportunity to meet with financiers and
distributors.
Films confirmed so far include
Chaos. Chaos is award winning Geraldine Creed's second feature and was shot in
Ireland and Germany. Variety has credited Creed as "a new talent to watch".
Creed's artistry is evident in this twisted and dark tale. Actress Lindsey
Harris' talent also shines through, having recently won the "Shooting Stars
Award" at the Berlin Film Festival for her first ever feature role.

The Warrior, directed by Asif Kapadia, is shot in the arid
desserts of Rajasthan and the heighty mountains of Northern India. It is an
emotive story of a soldiers quest to renounce his violent past and search
for redemption.

Since August 1994 Galway Cathedral has been home to an international series of
concerts, which has grown to become one of the major annual concert series in
the country. Centred around the Cathedral's magnificent Rushworth & Dreaper
organ, the concerts bring to Galway each year the very finest of Irish and
international musicians. Past years' series have featured performers from
Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the
USA.
All concerts are on Thursday in the Cathedral and start at 8pm.

Galway Races

The Galway racecourse in situated 5km from Galway city. It is advisable
to arrive at least an hour before the first race. Binoculars can be hired at
the racecourse. There is a bank machine in the racecourse grounds. There are
various food and drink outlets around the course. The Galway Race Festival
is not limited to the racecourse and Galway will be a buzz with events and
people during this weekend. There is no Reserved Enclosure in Galway. There
is a regular train service to Galway from Dublin (Heuston Station),
telephone Irish Rail (Iarnrod Eireann) 01-8366222 for train timetables.
There is also a special continuous bus service from Galway city centre on
