Saint Patrick's Day Parade Galway
17th March (St. Patrick's Day)
-
The 2002 Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Galway kicks off at 12:30,
starting at the University and ending in Eyre Square. The
Galway Parade, as always, features a strong community arts component, the
results of month long residencies by professional artists in the various
Galway communities. The parade will also emphasise Galway's Celtic and
Gaelic heritage with marching bands from Brittany and Scotland.
On the Eve
of St Patrick (16th March), there will be a major concert featuring the best
of Irish music and appearances by our musical Celtic brethren and a ceremony
on the landing of St. Patrick's Flame at the old quayside of the Claddagh.
